Throughout his latest project ‘Therapy’, Jean D’eau looks within and addresses recent viral moments that catapulted him into the spotlight. On ‘Went Out Sad’ he laments over the disappointment of discovering someone you thought highly of betraying the very principles you shared. Amidst receiving backlash for exposing his longtime associate Ralo’s work as a federal informant and releasing court transcripts outlining the cooperation that took place, he takes solace in the studio. As things become intense online, he disappears and deactivated his social media, during which time a bitter ex girlfriend colludes with his once good friend to sabotage his reputation and embarrass him by alleging that his jewelry was fake. He addresses these claims and the subsequent harassment from his ex on the super hype ‘Lick Back’ and the more reflective ‘Let It Go’.
Jean D’eau also gets even more personal as he connects with his oldest son RaRa WTS for the extremely somber ‘Rainy Days’. Throughout the song he paints the perfectly crafted story of how he deals with the pain and stress of not being able to see his kids as often due to failed relationships with their mother.
But the project isn’t all drama and sad stories though! On ‘Do Nun Else’ & ‘Yessuhhh’ he really shows his versatility, flowing over uptempo beats with catchy melodies. The project ends with a heartfelt ode to fellow Atlanta rapper and slain comrade Trouble, who Jean D’eau considered a personal friend. ‘Therapy’ is definitely his best project to date and is hopefully a precursor to what’s to come in the future for self proclaimed BAR-barian.
